The cultural weight behind those numbers came from Spike Lee directing Nike's earliest campaigns as Mars Blackmon, from the Banned advertising built around the NBA's 51 percent white shoe rule and the 5,000 dollar per game fine Nike paid, and from hip hop, where 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Ice Cube and Jay-Z referenced Jordan and his sneakers.
