Released on 5 June 2024 and part of Nike's Air Zoom Pegasus 41 line. This release has a mesh upper in Volt/Black/Barely Volt. Volt is Nike's own colour. The brand has used that acid yellow green across running, football and track for long enough that it now functions as a signal rather than a shade: it means fast, it means visible, it means kit rather than clothing. On the Pegasus 41, the most ordinary shoe in the running range, it works as a deliberate contradiction. The Pegasus is the neutral daily trainer, revised year after year rather than redesigned, aimed at people logging steady miles with no audience. Dressing that shoe in the loudest colour Nike owns is the closest a daily trainer gets to an opinion. The lineage behind it runs to Bowerman, who started this company because ordinary runners were being under served.
Use the visibility. Recipe one: early morning or evening road runs in black shorts and a dark technical tee, with the Volt shoe doing more for your safety than a reflective strip on your back. Recipe two: gym and commute duty with grey or black joggers and a plain sweat, keeping every other item neutral because Volt fights with anything that is not black, grey or white. Avoid using it for weights or court sports. Size half up from your formal shoe length with a thumb of toe room. Nike Air does the work. A pressurised gas unit sealed into the midsole gives the repeatable cushioning that a daily trainer needs, because consistency across hundreds of kilometres matters more here than peak feel on day one. The Volt upper is engineered mesh, chosen for airflow and quick drying, and the colour has a practical function: in low light, a full Volt shoe is one of the most visible things on a road. Expect a firm, predictable platform rather than a plush one. No weight, stack figure or drop is published to you here, and no style code is given, so confirm the exact version at purchase and judge the shoe by how it feels on your usual route.
