Origin
Released on 11 October 2024 and part of Nike's Dunk line. This release has a leather upper in White/Black/Metallic Silver/Apple Green. This one goes back to the beginning. Nike exists because Bill Bowerman coached track at the University of Oregon and thought his runners deserved lighter shoes than America was making, which is how Blue Ribbon Sports started in Eugene in 1964 and how Phil Knight, one of Bowerman's former runners, ended up selling Japanese trainers out of his car. Oregon is the brand's home ground in the most literal sense. A Dunk Low player exclusive in the university's away colours, presented as a What The mash up, is Nike using its own origin story as a design brief. Style code HV1454 100 identifies this release.
Utility
A patchwork shoe is the outfit. Wear it with plain black or raw denim, a single colour tee and nothing else competing, letting people notice the shoes and stop there. The second recipe is collegiate: grey sweatpants, a plain hooded sweatshirt, white crew socks, which is the register the shoe was designed inside. Dunks run long, so a half size down suits narrow feet. Oregon is not a normal college partnership for Nike. The collar carries a low foam roll, the toe box is perforated, and a rubber cupsole with herringbone forefoot tread sits underneath.
