Action Bronson is one of New Balance's most productive collaborators, working across several models including a 990v6 named Baklava, and his releases have a consistent logic: food, warmth and colours that sound like something you would eat or drink. Rosewater continues that. It is a name from a kitchen rather than from a design studio, and it lands on the 1906R, the most machine like silhouette New Balance currently makes, a shoe assembled from layered panels and visible structure that takes its number from the brand's 1906 founding as an arch support company. Putting a soft, aromatic idea on a shoe that looks like hardware is the joke, and it is a joke Bronson has told well enough that people now expect it.
