New Balance 9060 Grey Day 2025

Released on 1 May 2025 and part of New Balance's 9060 line. This release has a leather upper in Sea Salt/Castlerock. Grey is New Balance's real signature, more than any single model. The 990 family became the archetypal American dad shoe in grey, the suburban running shoe worn for comfort rather than status, and that plainness is exactly what normcore and then high fashion reclaimed in the 2010s. Grey Day is the brand celebrating that fact deliberately, and applying it to the 9060 puts the house colour on the house's strangest silhouette. The 9060 warps the 99x language, the line that runs from the 990 in 1982 through the 990v6 in 2022, into something sculpted and contemporary. Rendered in tonal grey, that distortion stops looking experimental and starts looking inevitable, which is the whole argument of the colour.
