Court Vision is Nike's plainly stated basketball throwback, a low top that borrows the proportions of the brand's 1980s court shoes without pretending to be a specific archive reissue. In black and grey it is about as understated as the shape gets: a dark body, a grey break across the panels, and a Swoosh that reads as a shape rather than a badge. NN marks Nike's newer make of the silhouette. The lineage behind it is real enough, since Nike's basketball authority was built by signing Michael Jordan in 1984 and marketing him through Spike Lee's Mars Blackmon films until the brand owned the sport. Court Vision takes that visual language and offers it without the collector's price.
Black and grey is the least demanding sneaker palette there is. Wear it with dark straight jeans and a grey crewneck for a low key everyday fit, or use it under black tapered trousers with a bomber jacket when you want a court shape without the bulk of an Air Force 1. Occasion is daily wear, casual office and evenings rather than actual basketball. Court silhouettes fit slightly roomy, so most people take their usual Nike size. Expect a flat, firm ride. Clean the midsole edge regularly since that is where grey turns dull, brush the upper dry before any wet cleaning, and keep it out of prolonged rain.
Nike became the shoe of basketball through Michael Jordan, signed in 1984, and the Spike Lee directed Mars Blackmon advertising that turned a signature athlete into a business of its own. Through basketball it became the shoe of hip hop, and from the 1980s onward Nike models were status symbols in urban and hip hop fashion before settling into 1990s and 2000s casual and athleisure wardrobes. Nike has been the official on court uniform supplier to the NBA, WNBA and NBA G League since 2017, so the court reference on a shoe like this is not borrowed from anyone. Court Vision is that inheritance made accessible rather than collectible.
The build is a low cut court shoe: a structured upper with perforations across the toe, a padded collar, and a flat, wide rubber outsole with the herringbone style traction pattern that basketball shoes have used for decades. Black on grey keeps the panel breaks legible without any contrast noise. There is no visible Air unit here, so the feel underfoot is firm and flat, which is what makes court silhouettes good for standing and walking and poor for distance running. Expect a slightly roomy fit with cushioning in the collar rather than the sole. Dark colours hide scuffing, so the midsole edge is the only surface that will visibly age.
