Anthracite with University Red is the version of this slide made for people who want the lineage without the announcement. A dark grey body absorbs the attention that a full red pair demands, and the red survives only as an accent, which changes the object from a signal into a piece of equipment. That suits how slides are actually used. Nike moved into its Beaverton, Oregon headquarters in 1990 and opened the first Niketown in downtown Portland the same year, and everything since has been about the company designing for the whole day rather than the hour of competition. This is the footwear for the rest of that day.
Recipe one: charcoal sweatpants and a black hoodie with black socks, where the anthracite disappears into the fit and the red accent is the only thing marking the shoe out. Recipe two: navy shorts and a grey tee in summer, worn barefoot, letting the dark footbed keep a casual outfit from looking like beachwear.
