Released on 10 January 2025 and part of Nike's Air Max Muse line. This release has a synthetic upper in Black/Metallic Silver. Air Max is the line where Nike stopped hiding its engineering. The Air unit is a pressurised gas capsule sealed into the midsole, and from the 1987 Air Max onward Nike made it visible, turning the cushioning itself into the decoration. The Muse is a women's model that takes that inheritance and treats it as fashion rather than as sport equipment, which is a legitimate reading given how completely Air Max models moved into casual and athleisure dress through the 1990s and 2000s. Black Metallic Silver is the sharpest way to buy it: an all-dark body with reflective silver detailing that catches light on movement, built for evening wear rather than for daylight running.
Recipe one: black straight-leg trousers with a black knit and a silver chain or hoops, so the shoe's metallic trim reads as part of the jewellery rather than as sportswear. Recipe two: dark washed denim, a grey sweatshirt and a black puffer, the everyday version, where the silver keeps the fit from going flat. This is a walking and city shoe, so treat all-day comfort as the brief rather than mileage. Air Max models generally fit true with a snug midfoot, so if you have a wider foot try before buying. Wipe the metallic areas with a dry cloth only, since cleaners dull the finish, and keep the black upper away from direct heat which can lift the panel bonding.
Air Max became a status object the same way Air Jordans and Air Force 1s did: through street dress rather than through sport. From the 1980s onward these silhouettes turned into staples of mainstream youth wardrobes, then reappeared in athleisure once comfort stopped being an excuse and became a preference. Nike's women's sponsorship line is real and long, running from Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Allyson Felix through Serena Williams, who publicly backed the company during the Colin Kaepernick campaign that began in September 2018. The Muse sits in the commercial descendant of that line: a women's Air Max designed to be styled, not to be raced in, and unapologetic about it.
A layered upper in synthetic and mesh panels over a sculpted Air Max midsole, with the Air unit doing the cushioning work below the heel and the platform shaped for stance rather than stride. The metallic silver is applied as trim and hardware against a black base, so the shoe reads solid from a distance and detailed up close, which is the correct way to build a dark shoe that still needs presence. Style code FV1920 001 identifies this make-up. Black is the most forgiving Air Max colour to own because the midsole does not show grime the way a white foam does, and the silver keeps the panel breaks legible instead of letting the whole shoe flatten into a blob.
