Released on 3 July 2024 and part of the ReactX Infinity Run line. This release has a flyknit upper in Multi-Color/Multi-Color. Nike's design process is normally invisible: you see the finished shoe, not the drawings behind it. A Blueprint Pack inverts that, dressing production shoes in the visual language of technical drafting so the object advertises how it was made. On the Infinity Run 4, a high cushion daily trainer, that idea has a nice friction to it, because this is the least glamorous shoe in a running rotation, the one that absorbs the repeated kilometres nobody photographs. Putting drafting language on it treats everyday training as engineering, which is fair. Nike has been an engineering company since Bill Bowerman poured rubber into a waffle iron to make a lighter sole.
Two uses. One, the training block: easy runs, long runs and recovery days, worn with technical socks and laced with a runner's loop through the last eyelet if your heel lifts. Buy about half a size up from your dress shoe size and check for a thumbnail of toe room, since feet swell in Indian heat. Never machine wash. Rinse with cool water, pull the insoles out, stuff with newspaper and dry in shade, because direct sun degrades foam and glue.
Nike's authority in running was earned on the track by athletes it sponsored across decades, including Sebastian Coe, Carl Lewis, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Michael Johnson and Allyson Felix, and by Steve Prefontaine before them as the brand's first track endorser. What the company did next was take that credibility and hand it to people running alone before work. Special packs are how a running range keeps that ordinary audience interested, giving a training shoe the treatment normally reserved for a racer. It is marketing, plainly, but it also reflects something true: the daily trainer does more work in a runner's life than the race day shoe ever will.
This is a maximal cushioning daily trainer, so the priorities are impact absorption, midfoot stability and an upper that holds without hot spots over long, slow efforts. Nike's upper thinking descends from Flywire, which uses cables to hold the foot with minimal material, and from Dri-FIT, its moisture wicking fabric platform, both of which exist to stop a shoe fighting you at kilometre fifteen. Expect a soft and protective feel rather than a fast one. Pack colourways often use lighter or contrast tones across panels, which shows road spray more than a plain dark trainer would, so plan to rinse them more often than you would a black pair.
