Released on 24 April 2024 and part of adidas's Samba line. This release has a leather upper in Cloud White/Core Black/Gum. The Samba Millennium is the Samba family branching sideways, a variant that keeps the low indoor football DNA but reshapes the proportions rather than reissuing the original outright. White with black and a gum sole is the family's oldest and most legible colour arrangement, the one that reads instantly as adidas from across a street because of the black Three Stripes running over white. That mark is not a drawing the company invented, it was bought from Karhu Sports in 1952 and turned into the brand's structural signature, which is why Adi Dassler called adidas the three stripes company. On this shoe the stripes are the design, and everything else supports them.
First outfit: straight leg black denim, a white tee, a black bomber, and let the shoe close the black and white loop with the gum sole as the only warm tone. Second: grey tailored trousers with a navy crewneck for something you can wear to a relaxed office, where the white keeps it from reading formal. Good for daily wear, long walking days and any occasion that calls for a clean shoe without a logo argument. Size true to slightly up depending on foot width, since the silhouette is cut low. Wipe the gum sidewall with a damp cloth to lift grime, and keep them out of the washing machine.
adidas has two cultural inheritances and this shoe sits in the quieter one. The Superstar's adoption by hip hop after Run-DMC released My Adidas gave the brand a second life it did not design, but the Samba's route was slower and more regional, through football culture and European casual dressing into the everyday. That is why a white and black Samba variant reads as neither hype nor nostalgia: it has been in circulation long enough to look like something you already owned. Buyers who choose the Millennium over the standard OG are usually choosing a shape difference that only other people who care will notice.
White upper, black stripes, gum outsole: three materials doing three jobs. The gum rubber is the traditional indoor court solution, soft and grippy on polished floors, and it is also the part of the shoe that will visibly age, deepening in colour rather than staying showroom fresh. The stitched Three Stripes reinforce the midfoot, the role they have carried since 1952. A white base on a low profile trainer collects scuffing along the toe and the midsole edge before anywhere else, so clean those two zones often and gently. Avoid bleach based whiteners, which yellow the gum, and let the gum patina develop instead of fighting it.
