Denim on a 1 is a material swap rather than a colour swap, and it is the kind of move this line has form for: the eleventh model put patent leather on a basketball court and made a formal fabric into performance kit, which gave everything after it permission to borrow from outside sport. Denim comes from the opposite direction, workwear rather than eveningwear, but the logic is the same. The base is the OG high pattern, which means the original specification with the taller collar, the Wings mark and the older toe shape rather than the simplified retail build, so what changes is entirely the surface you are looking at.
Denim on denim is the obvious pairing and it works if you break the shade: a much darker or much lighter jean than the shoe, a white tee and a black jacket. The safer route is to avoid denim entirely above the ankle, using olive or stone chinos with a cream knit so the shoe is the only woven cotton in view. High cut wants the hem finishing just above the collar. Care is textile care, not leather care: brush dry, spot clean with mild soap and a soft brush, never soak or machine wash, and treat with a fabric protector before first wear. Replacing leather with denim changes how the shoe behaves. Woven cotton has no memory the way leather does, so it does not crease into hard folds at the toe, it softens and fades along the flex lines instead, which is the same way a pair of jeans wears. Panels, perforations at the toe box and the rubber cupsole all follow the OG high pattern underneath. Expect the denim to lighten first at the toe break and along the collar edge, and expect the colour to bleed if the shoe gets properly soaked, particularly onto white socks or a pale midsole.
