    Culture Note™

Designed by Peter Moore and released on 24 September 2023 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a canvas upper in White/French Blue/Topaz Gold/Coral Chalk. The Air Jordan 1 is built from separate panels, and that is why it has survived as a design object: each block can be given its own colour, material or finish without breaking the outline Peter Moore drew in 1985. The SE Multicolor low, style code FD2655 100, pushes that structure as far as it goes on a single shoe, using a white base and running different colours through the panels so the pattern itself becomes the graphic. Nothing else in the archive takes to this treatment as easily. It is the clearest possible demonstration of why partners keep asking for this silhouette rather than any other in the line.
With a multicolour shoe, pick one colour from the upper and repeat it once, then keep everything else neutral. Try stone chinos, a white tee and a knit in whichever panel colour you like most, so the outfit has an argument. The alternative is full contrast: all black clothing, from tee to trousers, letting the shoe be the entire colour scheme. Low tops want a sock with heel grip and no visible logo competing with the upper. Clean panel by panel, never soak a multi-panel shoe, and protect before first wear because dye transfer between adjacent colours is the real risk. Store out of sunlight so the brighter panels do not fade unevenly.
Jordan Brand's collaboration programme runs across streetwear, luxury and music, with Off-White under Virgil Abloh, Dior, Comme des Garcons, Supreme and KAWS on the design side and Travis Scott, Drake, Billie Eilish, J Balvin, Eminem and Nicki Minaj on the music side. Almost all of that work happens on this silhouette, because the panel structure gives designers somewhere to put an idea. The foundation underneath is older: the Air Jordan 1 created sneaker collecting as a mass activity, and the resale market it anchors has been valued at roughly 2 billion dollars. A multicolour SE is the house doing to itself what its partners do to it.
The interest is panel-by-panel. Toe, quarter, eyestay, Swoosh, heel and collar trim are all separate pieces, and a multicolour execution assigns them different tones so the seams read as deliberate lines rather than joins. White carries the base and the midsole, which stops the shoe becoming noise. Rubber cupsole below. Style code FD2655 100 confirms the release. A multi-panel upper is harder to clean than a single-colour one because you cannot treat the whole surface at once: work panel by panel with a white cloth so no colour crosses a seam, and test any cleaner on the heel block first before touching the visible panels.
