Released on 21 November 2024 and part of Nike's Dunk SB line. This release has a leather upper in White/White/Black. Nike SB's relationship with skateboarding has been productive and occasionally corrective. When the line used Minor Threat's album art for a tour flyer in 2005, Ian MacKaye rebuked it publicly and Nike apologised, an episode that permanently changed how carefully the brand handles borrowed subcultural imagery. Working directly with a skate company is the answer to that problem, and this Dunk High is built with AntiHero, named in the product itself. Wolf Grey is the palette, a mid cool grey that is one of Nike's own colour names and about as unassuming as a collaboration can be. The restraint is the joke and the point: a partnership with an irreverent skate brand rendered in the most neutral grey available.
Two ways to wear it. Skate standard: baggy jeans or loose carpenter trousers, a plain heavy tee, socks pulled up, and let the high collar sit exposed rather than swallowed by the hem. Or urban and muted: charcoal wide leg trousers with a black jacket, where the wolf grey lifts a dark fit without adding colour. Casual only, best in cooler weather since a padded high top is warm, and genuinely comfortable for long days on foot. Fit is true to size with a stiff collar initially. Care is straightforward: brush grey panels dry rather than washing them, since grey nubuck and suede water spot badly, and let them dry naturally away from heat.
Collaborations with actual skate companies rather than fashion labels are how Nike SB keeps its footing in a culture that has every reason to be suspicious of a corporation this size. Skate brands built on a specific irreverent sensibility do not usually translate into corporate product, and the interesting part of a partnership like this is watching what survives the translation. Grey is a smart choice for that. It refuses the obvious route of loud graphics and forces the collaboration into details, which is where the skate audience looks anyway. This is a shoe made for people who already know both names and do not need either of them printed large.
A high top built to SB specification, so the padding is functional. The tongue and collar are thick and generously filled to absorb impact, and the panels that grip tape destroys first carry reinforcement. The taller collar gives ankle support and, more practically, a larger surface for a collaborator to work on, which is usually where the detailing on a partnership model lives. Wolf Grey across the upper means texture and panel contrast carry the design rather than colour. Nike's waffle derived tread lineage matters here because board feel depends on how much of the surface the sole reports back. High tops take longer to break in than lows, so expect a stiff collar for the first week of wear.
