Origin
Designed by Peter Moore and released on 23 August 2022 as part of Nike's Dunk line. This release has a suede upper in Vast Grey/Summit White/Pearl White. Premium is Nike's flag for a familiar shape given better surfaces, and on the Dunk Low it usually means the colour work steps back so the material can be the story. Vast Grey is the ideal shade for that argument: a broad, cool grey with no team allegiance, no season and no reference to anything except itself. Nike spent decades turning court shoes into everyday objects, and a grey premium Dunk is the end point of that process, a basketball silhouette with nothing left of the arena in it. What remains is the shape, the Swoosh and the quality of the panels, which is a fair test of whether a model deserves its reputation.

In a single tonal grey, contrast comes from texture rather than shade, so any change of material between panels is the whole visual effect. Underfoot the platform is flat and court-derived, following the Nike traction thinking that begins with Bowerman pouring rubber into his wife's waffle iron. Grey hides creasing better than white and shows scuffing more than black, which sits it in a practical middle ground.
