It belongs to the same sensibility as New Balance's collaborator roster, built on designers and independents such as Paul Smith on a 576 in June 2018 and Action Bronson across several models, rather than on mass celebrity, and it treats the archive as material to be worked rather than preserved.

The upper is the standard 2002R layering of engineered mesh with suede and synthetic overlays, finished here in bleached sand and grey tones so the panel structure reads as grain rather than as colour blocking. Underfoot New Balance uses ABZORB, its proprietary foam and rubber polymer blend, which disperses heel strike impact before it travels into the knees and hips, plusher and lighter than ENCAP and less structurally supportive. Use the width fittings, the oldest technical promise the brand makes, rather than adding length.
