The Air Jordan 1 is the shoe that turned a 1984 signing into a business of its own, and the Low is the version that took the silhouette out of the archive and into daily wear, cut down so it works with anything. This SE grade school execution runs a gold toe, a finishing idea borrowed from dress shoemaking where a contrast toe cap is a mark of intent rather than of decoration. On a shoe with this much history, a metallic toe is a deliberate provocation. One correction worth carrying with any Air Jordan 1: the NBA never banned it. Gold rewards a plain outfit. Wear it with black straight leg jeans and a white tee so the toe cap is the only shine, or with grey school trousers and a navy sweatshirt for a smarter daytime look that still reads young. It suits everyday wear, social occasions and travel, and it is not built for wet ground given the metallic finish. Grade school sizing runs smaller than adult sizing, so check the conversion before ordering. A metallic gold toe is a coated finish rather than a dyed one, so it scuffs rather than creasing gracefully and cannot be restored once rubbed through. Nike Air, the pressurised gas unit sealed into the midsole, does the cushioning work out of sight. Grade school sizing means a shorter last and a slightly narrower fit than the equivalent adult pair, which is worth knowing before you buy.
