Released on 13 May 2025 and part of Nike's Vomero 18 line. This release has a mesh upper in White/Photon Dust/Summit White/Metallic Silver. White with Photon Dust is a pale grey wash on white, the quietest finish Nike puts on a cushioned road shoe. The Vomero name sits in the part of the range built for comfort over distance rather than for speed, which is a different problem from the one the racing line solves. Nike's reason for existing was a shoe problem: Bill Bowerman, coaching track at the University of Oregon, thought American runners deserved lighter and better than the domestic market offered, and started importing from Japan in 1964 while he worked on his own soles. A women's max cushioned trainer is that same instinct pointed at daily mileage instead of at records.
Two uses. First, easy and long runs, where a tall cushioned platform does its job on repeated miles and protects you on the days between hard sessions. Second, standing and walking all day, worn with grey joggers and a white tee, because a soft white trainer reads as neutral in a way a racing shoe never does. Size as you would other Nike running shoes, and consider a half size up if you run long. Rotate it with something firmer if you also do speed work. Remove the insoles to dry after wet runs, air dry away from heat, and clean the white knit with mild soap on a soft brush.
Nike's running authority was established on the track long before it was sold on the road. Steve Prefontaine, Bowerman's athlete at Oregon, was the brand's first track endorser and became its symbol of running as attitude rather than as sport, with a statue at Nike headquarters. Ilie Nastase had been the first professional athlete of any kind to sign. Later the roster ran through Sebastian Coe, Carl Lewis, Michael Johnson, Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Allyson Felix. Most of that history is about going fast, but the commercial centre of running has always been comfort, and a soft white daily trainer is what the majority of that audience actually buys.
Cushioned trainers are built around foam volume and how it is contained. Nike's foam work spans several platforms, from Lunarlite as a lightweight cushioning material to ZoomX as the lightest and most responsive in the range, and a maximal daily shoe uses that stack for comfort rather than for propulsion. Around it sits a structured heel to keep a tall midsole stable and an engineered knit upper that holds the foot with minimal material, the same principle behind Flywire. White with Photon Dust means the upper reads as one soft surface with the grey used for depth rather than for contrast. Style code HM6804 104 confirms this women's execution.
