Designed by Peter Moore and released on 26 August 2021 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in White/White/Habanero Red. Syracuse is a nickname the sneaker audience gave this colour pairing, not a team partnership: the college basketball programmes that actually carry Jordan Brand are North Carolina, Georgetown, Cincinnati and Michigan. That distinction is worth knowing, because it tells you how this line works now. The silhouette is famous enough that its colourways get named by the people wearing them rather than by the brand, and those names stick harder than official ones. Underneath the nickname is the shoe Peter Moore and Bruce Kilgore drew in 1984 for a rookie Nike had signed for six years and 2.5 million dollars, still recognisable four decades and several thousand colourways later.
Two recipes. First, keep everything else flat: black or charcoal wide leg trousers and a white tee, so the shoe supplies all the colour and the fit stays legible. Second, dark denim with a cream knit and a tonal cap, where the warm colour in the shoe picks up the knit. Do not add a third bright, since this pairing already occupies the eye. Jordan Brand's own signed WNBA athletes, Maya Moore and Jordin Canada, are the roster context for a women's pair.
A Mid gives a two colour pairing room to breathe. The collar sits above the ankle, so the upper has three clear zones, toe, quarter and collar, and a strong contrast pairing gets to appear in each of them without crowding. Panel seams carry the transitions, which is why the 1 handles bold colour better than smoother silhouettes: the structure is already drawn into the upper. A women's build keeps those proportions on a narrower last, so the colour blocks read slightly longer on the foot. Bright dyes flatten in direct sun, so store the pair out of a hot window. Wipe marks off the lighter sections the same day and dry brush the rest weekly.
