Labubu came out of a book, not a factory. Kasing Lung, a Hong Kong-born illustrator raised in the Netherlands, built a fairy world out of the Nordic folklore he grew up on and filled it with a tribe he called The Monsters. Labubu, the one with the pointed ears, the wide eyes and nine sharp teeth, debuted in 2015 and stayed a niche art-toy thing until Lung signed an exclusive deal with Pop Mart in 2019 and the blind box machine got hold of it. The Coca-Cola series, released 24 January 2025, is where two of the most recognisable red-and-white identities on the planet finally shared a shelf. Labubu gets dressed in Coke's visual language, milkshake cups and all, and the result reads less like a toy than like soda-brand folklore.
Two ways to play it. One: leave it sealed. Blind boxes hold value better unopened, and if you plan to trade or flip, the seal is the asset. Two: open it, clip it to a tote or a backpack strap, and bend the wire armature so the ears sit the way you want. On display, keep it out of direct sunlight, because plush fades and reds go dull first. Spot clean the fabric with a damp cloth, never a washing machine, and wipe the vinyl face separately so you do not smear the print. Pop Mart rates it fifteen and up, fair for a collector item with a hunt attached. Labubu went from art-toy shelves to global obsession in a single spring. Blackpink's Lisa was photographed with one clipped to her bag in April 2024 and the character detonated across East and Southeast Asia. Pop Mart's numbers followed: Labubu generated roughly 870 million dollars in a single half-year, and over three hundred figure variations now exist, running from about fifteen dollars to nearly a thousand at the top end. The Coca-Cola tie-up sits high on that pile because it does what the best collaborations do, which is make both logos look like they were always meant to share a shelf. The secret Mysterious Guest is the one people are genuinely hunting, and it is what keeps sealed cases moving.
This is the vinyl face format, which is the version collectors actually chase. The face is moulded ABS and PVC, so the grin and those nine teeth stay crisp instead of going soft the way an all-plush face does. The body is a polyester plush shell over polyester stuffing wrapped around an iron wire armature, which means the arms and ears pose and hold their shape. Each figure stands 15.5 to 17 centimetres, enough presence for a shelf and still small enough to clip onto a bag, which is how most people carry them. One sealed, unidentified figure per box. The series runs two main designs, Surprise Shake and Happy Factor, with a secret Mysterious Guest pulling at roughly one in seventy-two.
