Released on 25 September 2024 and part of the 1460 line. This release has a leather upper in Black/Black/White. The 1460 is named after a date: it was introduced on 1 April 1960, and the model number preserves that day. It became the foundational Dr. Martens boot, the design from which the brand's catalogue radiates, and together with the 1461 shoe, whose number marks 1961, it has long stood among the company's best-selling designs. The Smooth designation marks the classic smooth leather execution of the boot. Many variations of the 1460 have been produced over the decades since that 1960 introduction, but the smooth leather original remains the reference point, the version the others are measured against.
The 1460 is bought as an everyday boot expected to outlast trends: paired with denim, dresses and workwear alike, and expected to improve as the leather breaks in.
