New Balance 530 Silver Khaki

Released on 25 February 2022 and part of New Balance's 530 line. This release has a mesh upper in Silver/White/Khaki. Silver Khaki is the 530 doing exactly what it was built to do, which is look faintly technical while being completely unremarkable. This is a mid range running shoe from the period when New Balance made trainers for people jogging around the neighbourhood, with a silvery synthetic finish that was supposed to read as modern and a wide, forgiving sole that was supposed to last. Pairing that sheen with a khaki base takes the shoe out of pure sportswear and gives it an earth tone to sit on. Nothing about it is designed to be interesting, and that is precisely the quality the brand's whole cultural standing was later built on.
