Adidas Adifom Superstar Olive Strata

Part of adidas's adiFOM Superstar line. This release has a eva upper in Olive Strata/Core Black/Olive Strata. The Superstar is the single most consequential shoe adidas ever made. It launched in 1969 as a low top with a moulded rubber shell toe built to protect players' feet under the basket, was reportedly on more than 75 percent of NBA players by 1973, and then was taken up wholesale by hip hop, giving the brand a second life it never planned. The Adifom is what happens when you melt that shape and cast it in one piece of foam. Olive Strata layers greens through the moulded body so the shoe looks geological, striated like rock. The shell toe survives the translation, because without it nothing would be recognisable.
