Origin
Designed by Kanye West and released on 29 April 2017 as part of the Yeezy Boost 350 line. This release has a primeknit upper in Cream White/Cream White/Core White. Cream is the 350 V2 colourway that convinced people outside sneaker culture to buy one. The early V2s used a bold contrast stripe that announced itself across a room, and Cream did the opposite: a soft off white knit with the stripe blended into the same tone, so the shoe reads as quiet footwear until you clock the shape. It follows the line's original instinct for material names and neutral tones, the same instinct behind Oxford Tan and Turtle Dove. The V2 platform launched on 24 September 2016 and stayed central to the partnership until adidas terminated the deal on 25 October 2022, which is why this makeup circulates now as archive rather than as current stock.
Utility
Cream flatters soft, warm outfits. Recipe one: stone chinos, a white tee and a tan suede jacket, where the shoe finishes a tonal outfit without adding a hard edge. Recipe two: black tailored trousers with a cream knit, using the shoe to pick up the knit and stop the black reading as formal. Take your usual size; the midfoot is snug and the Primeknit gives with wear. This is a dry weather pair and nothing else. Protect the knit before first wear, dry brush after each outing, spot clean with foam cleaner and a soft brush, and never soak the Boost. Dry indoors away from sunlight, and accept that a lived in cream pair looks better than a nervously preserved one.
Influence
Cream is the point where the 350 V2 became a normal shoe. The silhouette was already one of the most recognisable of the 2010s, built by a scarcity model of limited drops that fed queue culture, bot buying and a resale market bigger than retail, and a neutral pale colourway let that shape travel into offices, weddings and daily wardrobes. GQ in 2016 called these the most influential sneakers around, and Forbes in 2020 framed the commercial run as one of the great retail stories of the century. Kanye West founded and designed the line; adidas ended the partnership on 25 October 2022 over his antisemitic public remarks, calling them unacceptable, hateful and dangerous.
Construction
The upper is Primeknit, machine knitted in one piece with no traditional panels, and in an all cream execution that continuity is the whole design: an unbroken pale surface with a stretch collar and knitted eyelets. Beneath it the Boost midsole, expanded TPU pellets, sits in the same off white, so the speckling reads as texture rather than contrast. Nothing on the outside carries a logo. Cream is a demanding colour to own because the knit will grey at the toe and crease deeply at the flex point, and the midsole yellows with sun exposure over time. On foot the shoe is snug through the midfoot and softens quickly, which is why so many owners wear a pair well past its clean phase.
