Designed by Peter Moore and released on 20 July 2024 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in Oxidized Green/White/Sail/Oxidized Green. Oxidized Green is a weathered, slightly grey green, the colour of metal left outside, and naming a colourway after a chemical process tells you where this shoe now sits. It is not selling a team, a season or a player. It is selling a tone. The Air Jordan 1 earned that freedom the hard way: signed as a contract in October 1984, released to the public on 1 April 1985, sold out at 50,000 pairs and past 150 million dollars in sales when Nike had projected 3 million over three years. Cut low, in aged green over a pale base, this is the shape working purely as material.
Two recipes. Earth: brown or olive chinos, a cream knit, and the green shoe finishing a full warm neutral outfit. Or cold contrast: grey wool trousers with a navy crew, where the muted green stops the palette going corporate. Oxidized tones fight bright colour, so keep everything else desaturated. Lows want a cropped or single cuffed hem. Sizing is close to true with a slim heel. Brush before wiping, since a desaturated finish shows watermarks more than gloss leather does, and let them air out fully between wears so the light base does not hold moisture. A dark sock keeps the palette consistent from hem to floor.
Jordan Brand's music side collaborators include Eminem and Nicki Minaj, alongside a design roster of Off-White under Virgil Abloh, Comme des Garcons, Supreme and KAWS. That mixture, rap and luxury and skate graphics on the same silhouette, is why a colourway can be named after oxidation and still feel like it belongs. The shoe stopped being a basketball object when hip hop adopted it and never went back. What is left is a shape neutral enough to carry any collaborator's idea, which is exactly the quality an aged green makeup exploits, borrowing the authority without borrowing anybody's logo.
An SE treatment on the standard Low pattern, with oxidized green across the Swoosh, toe and heel over a lighter base. Muted greens hide dirt far better than the pale and bright colourways in this family, which makes it one of the more practical Lows to actually wear rather than store. Underneath is the same stitched rubber cupsole, flat and wide, with the low collar sitting below the ankle bone. The Air Jordan 1 has never depended on technology, it depends on proportion, and a desaturated colourway is the clearest possible test of whether those proportions hold up without help.
