Origin
Released on 8 April 2025 and part of the Jordan Luka .77 line. This release has a textile upper in Black/Hyper Pink/Barely Green. Luka Doncic is a signature athlete on the Jordan Brand roster, which is a roster that only exists because Nike made the line a standalone division in 1997 with its own athletes, apparel and collaborations. A signature shoe for a guard is a different design problem from a signature shoe for a leaper: the demands are footwork, deceleration and change of direction rather than takeoff. Space Navigator is a colourway that leans into that idea of reading the floor and finding the gap. There is no archive to serve here and no Chicago palette to honour, which means the shoe gets to be about a specific player's game and nothing else.
Utility
Two ways to use it. On court, this is a primary indoor shoe: lace to the top, keep it off concrete, and let the outsole pattern stay sharp. Off court, treat it as technical wear rather than casual retro: black or navy tapered joggers with an elastic cuff sitting on the collar, a plain long sleeve, nothing else competing. Space Navigator gives you a colour story that works with dark, plain clothing and looks wrong with heritage denim. Brush the outsole after sessions, air the shoe out instead of sealing it in a bag, replace insoles before you replace the shoe, and never machine wash a performance upper.
Influence
Doncic sits alongside Jayson Tatum and Zion Williamson as a signature athlete for the brand, with Russell Westbrook, Trae Young and Chris Paul among the signed NBA group. Beyond basketball the roster runs to Jalen Hurts and Dak Prescott in the NFL, Aaron Judge and Derek Jeter in MLB, and Maya Moore and Jordin Canada in the WNBA. That reach is what a 5.1 billion dollar division looks like in practice, the figure Jordan Brand generated for Nike in 2022. The brand also moved outside basketball entirely, taking on the Michigan Wolverines football programme in 2016 and Paris Saint-Germain in 2018, its first association football club.
Construction
This is a performance basketball build, so read it as equipment. Nike Air cushioning has been part of the Jordan line since the Air Jordan II and remains the underfoot baseline. Around it the brand has accumulated a technical vocabulary aimed at control: carbon fibre shank plates for torsional stiffness, Kevlar reinforcement in laces and uppers, and knitted uppers from the XXX onward. For a guard's shoe the emphasis falls on midfoot lockdown and a low, stable platform rather than maximum stack. On your feet that means a shoe that wants to be laced properly and used indoors, that will feel firm rather than plush, and that rewards a snug fit over a roomy one.
