Released on 20 September 2024 and part of the Jordan Spizike line. This release has a nubuck upper in Gym Red/Black/Wolf Grey/Cool Grey. Toro is the all red family name in this line, and putting it on the Spizike Low is a slightly mischievous choice, because the Spizike is a composite model rather than a hero silhouette. It borrows recognisable parts from across the series and stitches them together, and it carries Spike Lee's name because Lee directed the earliest advertising for the line and appeared in it as Mars Blackmon. Covering that patchwork in a single saturated red does something specific: it erases the contrast that normally makes the borrowed panels obvious, so the shoe stops looking like a remix and starts looking like a solid, sculpted object.
All red demands a neutral frame. Black straight leg trousers, a black tee and a grey overshirt keeps the shoe as the entire statement, which is the right call. For a warmer weather version, stone shorts and a white tee makes the red look intentional rather than aggressive. Do not add a second red item and do not swap in black laces, since the single block effect is what the colourway exists for. Care is strict: suede brush the napped panels dry, damp cloth the smooth ones, protector spray before the first wear, and no water. Red marks permanently when it dries unevenly, so avoid rain and puddles entirely.
Spike Lee's place in this brand's story is unusual because it is authorship rather than endorsement. He directed Nike's Air Jordan advertising and played Mars Blackmon opposite Michael Jordan in it, and those films are a large part of why the shoes moved from the court into film and then into hip hop, where 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Ice Cube and Jay-Z put them into verse. The collecting culture that followed made this the first sneaker line people bought as a mass activity. An all red tribute model is that history worn loudly, on the one shoe in the range that was designed to be about history in the first place.
The upper is a set of different panel shapes and textures joined along visible seams, and in one colour those seams become the only detail. Napped and smooth surfaces in the same red will read at different depths depending on the light, which is why all red on a mixed material shoe photographs better than it sounds. The low cut removes the ankle collar, leaving lateral hold to the lacing and panel wrap. Nike Air cushioning has been part of this line from the second model onward. Red napped material is the least forgiving surface in footwear: it flattens where it creases, darkens where it gets wet and does not come back, so protection before wear matters more than cleaning after.
