Released on 27 August 2022 and part of adidas's Forum line. This release has a suede upper in Blue Tint/Light Blue/Clear Blue. Bad Bunny's adidas collaborations rebuilt the Forum around a single idea: exaggerate the buckle. Where the original mid-eighties Forum used an ankle strap to make a basketball shoe look like equipment, the Buckle Low turns that hardware into the centre of the design, oversized and deliberately awkward in the best way. Blue Tint keeps it pale and cool, a washed-out shade that lets the strap and the sole do the shouting. This kids' size run means the same design reaches a younger audience directly, which matters for a collaborator whose audience skews young and who treats footwear as part of a wider visual project.
Pale blue with big hardware needs simple surroundings. First recipe: black or grey tapered sweats with a plain hoodie, where the buckle reads as the only design detail. Second: mid-wash denim with a white tee, a straightforward build the blue tint softens. Wear the buckle fastened for the intended stance, since the strap is structural to the look rather than optional. Forum Low fits true with a slightly snug toe box. For a kids' pair, check the strap and lace tension regularly as feet grow, wipe the pale leather after each wear, and keep them off wet ground where the light finish marks.
Bad Bunny is an adidas collaborator, part of a lineage of music partnerships that began with Run-DMC releasing My Adidas unpaid in 1986 and then signing the first endorsement deal between a musical act and an athletic company, which Questlove has called hip hop's tipping point. adidas has extended that line to Pharrell Williams, Beyonce and an Original Forever collection with Oasis. The Forum sits well inside it, a basketball shoe that spent its cultural life off court. A reworked buckle version in a pale colour is the current generation restating that the shoe belongs to music more than to the sport.
A leather and synthetic Forum Low upper on a rubber cupsole, with the oversized buckle strap as the defining hardware. The Three Stripes are perforated into the side panel in the reinforcing position they have occupied on adidas uppers since the mark was adopted. Pale blue tint surfaces show scuffs and denim transfer quickly, so wipe the shoe after each wear rather than waiting. The buckle is the part that takes the most stress, so avoid over-tightening and check the anchor stitching periodically, particularly on a kids' pair that gets worn hard. Clean the midsole edge with a soft cloth and keep the pair out of prolonged wet.
