Designed by Peter Moore and released on 13 July 2022 as part of Nike's Dunk line. This release has a leather upper in Laser Blue/White/Laser Blue. Championship blue is a bright, optimistic royal that sits on a Dunk High the way a jersey number sits on a back: unmissable and completely at home. The high top version of this silhouette is the original basketball proposition, with a collar that wraps the ankle and a taller panel above it that gives the colour more room to work than any low ever could. Nike's colour system is what makes it read cleanly. The Swoosh, drawn by Carolyn Davidson and first used on 18 June 1971, anchors the panelling so a strong blue can take the overlays without the shoe turning into a shapeless block of colour.
Wear it with cropped white or ecru trousers so the ankle collar is visible and the blue has a clean field around it. Or run washed black denim with a blue and white striped shirt, letting the shoe echo the top and hold the outfit together. Right for daytime, weekends, gigs and cooler weather, less suited to formal settings. Dunk Highs fit true to length with a snug instep, so take your usual size and expect the collar to soften after a week. Clean the white base separately from the blue panels, and keep the pair out of direct sun so the colour stays saturated.
Bright team colour high tops are the everyday inheritance of that relationship. You get the visual language of the sport without any claim to it, which is why these colourways sell just as well in cities where basketball is a niche.
Blue leather overlays over a white base, running from the toe up through the eyestay, the Swoosh and the ankle collar so the colour follows the shape of the shoe rather than fighting it. The high cut adds a padded collar that needs a few wears to soften around the ankle, and the longer lace run gives you more control over fit through the midfoot. Below sits the standard court build, foam midsole and rubber outsole, descended from Bowerman's belief that ground contact is where the engineering happens. High tops crease at the ankle as well as the toe, which is normal and part of how they age.
