New Balance 1906l Woodland

Designed by Charlotte Lee and released on 30 July 2025 as part of New Balance's 1906L line. This release has a mesh upper in Woodland. New Balance is unusually attached to place. It opened a UK factory at Workington in 1982, moved it to Flimby in 1991, and kept New England production running while almost every competitor left, to the point that where a shoe is made became a product signature stamped on the tongue badge. That geography lives in the brand's palette too, in the greens and browns that suit a company from the north Atlantic rather than from a sunbelt design studio. Woodland is exactly that register, a deep muted green with grey in it rather than a bright sports green. On the 1906L, a variant of the family named after the brand's 1906 founding year, it turns a technical silhouette into something closer to outdoor equipment.
