Released on 16 November 2023 and part of New Balance's 1906 line. This release has a mesh upper in Silver Metallic/Classic Crimson/Sea Salt. Silver with classic crimson is the 1906R doing its best impression of a period race shoe. The model revives New Balance's early 2000s performance running design language, when running footwear looked engineered and slightly clinical, and a silver base with a single hot red accent is exactly how that era coloured its fastest models. Under the aesthetic is a company whose entire authority comes from running: New Balance began in 1906 making arch supports, built the Trackster in 1960 as the first running shoe offered in varying widths, and grew through YMCA fitness programmes and college cross country teams rather than through marketing. The 1906R is that inheritance dressed for a city.
Utility
Silver and red is a sports palette, so lean into it or neutralise it. Recipe one is track adjacent: black nylon trousers, a white tee, a red or burgundy cap picking up the crimson accents. Construction
