New Balance 550 Vintage Pack Pecan

Released on 1 January 2024 and part of New Balance's 550 line. This release has a leather upper in Sea Salt/Pecan/Black. The Vintage Pack treats the 550 the way collectors treat old basketball shoes, dulling the whites, warming the tones and letting the shoe look like it has already had a life. Pecan is the warmest way to do that, a soft nutty brown that reads worn-in from the box. It suits a model that comes from New Balance's basketball past, a low top court shoe from a period when the brand approached that game with the same fit-first logic it used everywhere else, having grown out of the arch support business it started in 1906 rather than out of sports marketing. A vintage treatment makes that history literal.
