Nike began as a running company: Bill Bowerman coached at the University of Oregon and wanted lighter shoes than the American market offered, and Phil Knight sold the first imports out of his car at track meets. The P-6000 is what happens when that running heritage is looked at through a much later lens, the layered, technical running aesthetic rebuilt as an everyday shoe.
