Released on 1 January 2026 and part of the ReactX Rejuven8 line. This release has a reactx upper in Spruce Aura/Light Silver. Nike's real specialism is foam. ZoomX, its altered Pebax formulation, is the lightest and most responsive material in its range and is what makes the Vaporfly work, and Lunarlite is the lightweight foam family that preceded a lot of that thinking. ReactX names the platform this shoe is built on, and Rejuven8 is the model that points that engineering at recovery instead of at speed, the hours after the effort rather than the effort itself. Spruce Aura with Light Silver is a cool, muted green against a pale metallic grey, which is a deliberately calm pairing. Nothing about this shoe is asking to be raced in. That is a legitimate use case, and Nike has spent decades earning the credibility to sell it.
Muted green plus silver is easier to wear than most recovery footwear. Recipe one: black joggers, a grey tee and a black zip up, where the spruce reads as the only colour and the silver ties to any hardware you are wearing. Recipe two: olive shorts and a white tee for warm weather, an earth tone build that leans into the green rather than neutralising it. This is a post workout, travel day and standing all day shoe, not a running or gym training shoe. Take your usual Nike size and expect a roomy, unstructured fit. Wipe the upper with a damp cloth, keep the foam away from heat, and air dry fully before storing so the bed does not hold odour.
The idea that recovery is part of training came from elite sport and moved outward, exactly like every other Nike product category has. The brand's proof of concept in foam is the Vaporfly, launched in 2017, which pairs ZoomX with a full length carbon fibre plate and which peer research found could improve marathon times by up to 4.2 percent. That was disruptive enough that World Athletics set limits on 31 January 2020, capping sole thickness at 40mm, allowing one rigid plate and requiring general retail availability. A recovery shoe carries none of that pressure, which is the point: it is the same material science with nothing to prove.
A recovery focused shoe puts almost all its design budget into the foam bed, so the thing to judge is the cushioning platform and the way it holds the foot without pressure. ReactX is what Nike calls the foam here, and a thick, soft, forgiving bed is the whole proposition. Spruce Aura is a greyed green that hides dust and light staining far better than a bright colour, while Light Silver adds a cool metallic edge that keeps the pair from looking like a medical object. Foam responds badly to heat, so keep it out of a hot car and away from direct sun, which stiffens and yellows soft midsoles faster than any amount of walking will.
