Released on 9 May 2025 and part of Nike's Dunk SB line. This release has a suede upper in Tourmaline/Baroque Brown/Monarch. Nike SB has always had to be more careful than the rest of the company, a lesson learned publicly when it used Minor Threat's album art in 2005, was rebuked by Ian MacKaye and apologised that June before settling out of court. What the line does well now is colour with a point of view, and Rodeo Tourmaline is exactly that: tourmaline is a gemstone name, a deep blue-green, set against the rodeo reference in the same title. It is a colourway that borrows from mineralogy and Americana at once, which suits a shoe designed for a subculture that has never taken sportswear conventions seriously.
Wear one: loose blue denim with a cream tee and a brown belt, where a blue-green shoe sits as the cooler note in a warm skate fit. Wear two: black cargo trousers cuffed once with a grey hoodie, so the tourmaline panels are the only colour and the SB padding is visible at the collar. Do not put this next to bright blue or bright green clothing, since either will flatten the shade. SB builds run snug at first because of the thicker tongue. Dry brush textured panels, use a barely damp cloth on smooth ones, and keep the shoe out of prolonged wet, since padded SB collars hold water and dry slowly.
Nike SB sits at an unusual point in the company's history: a line whose credibility depends on the approval of a scene that Nike once got wrong in public. That is why its colourways and references get read closely rather than glanced at. It also belongs to the broader arc in which Nike became a status symbol in urban and hip hop fashion from the 1980s, with its court silhouettes crossing into mainstream American youth dress and then into 1990s and 2000s casual and athleisure wardrobes. A gemstone name on a skate shoe is that history at ease with itself, confident enough to be strange.
Style code HF3058 300 marks this as an SB build, and SB is a real change to the Dunk Low rather than a label. The tongue and collar are noticeably thicker to absorb board impact through the top of the foot, and the upper is reinforced where the shoe takes grip tape. The model's panelled structure stays, so the tourmaline tone can be split across Swoosh, overlays and collar while a neutral holds the base. Deep blue-greens shift under different light, reading blue indoors and greener outside, which is a large part of why the shade was chosen. Underfoot the outsole follows the traction lineage that starts with Bowerman's waffle iron and his hunt for grip.
