Two recipes. First, a cream slip dress with a grey oversized cardigan, where the glitter stripes are the only ornament in the outfit and nothing competes. Second, straight leg pale denim with a white tee and gold jewellery, a daytime fit that lets the sparkle read as texture rather than as evening wear. Keep other sequins, prints and metallics away, because the stripes cannot share attention. This is a dry weather shoe and it will not survive a wet commute happily. Take your usual size in the narrow, slightly long last. Brush the glitter panels with a soft dry brush only, never wet clean or rub them, and clean the pink leather body separately with a barely damp cloth.

Decorative packs like this only make sense for a fashion brand, which is exactly what Asics rebuilt Onitsuka Tiger into in 2002 after the name spent roughly twenty five years dormant. The design led side of that era ran through Andrea Pompilio, the label's longest running design partnership, from the Fall Winter 2013 collection through 2017 and into a creative direction role, which is when the brand learned to treat the Mexico 66 as a canvas rather than a fixed product. A glitter finish on a sixty year old racing flat is that canvas thinking taken to its most playful conclusion.

The architecture is unchanged: slim leather upper, narrow last, low flat profile, thin cupsole and Tiger Stripes stitched as structural overlay panels across the quarter. The glitter treatment lives on those panels, and a textured finish behaves differently from both dye and smooth metallic. It catches dust in the texture, so it needs a soft dry brush rather than a wet clean, and it does not tolerate rubbing, which flattens the sparkle. The Pink Cameo body is a matte leather that creases at the toe and shows marks at the sole edge. Underfoot you get the same thin, flat, flexible platform with no cushioning and no arch support.
