The Slide arrived in December 2019 and reduced footwear to a single moulded gesture: no laces, no stitching, no logo, nothing to read. Pure is the flattest reading of that idea, a pale off white that refuses even the warmth of Bone, so the object is only its outline. This listing carries no style code and the Pure colourway has appeared in more than one release run, so treat the shape and the tone as the reliable facts and the specific production year as unconfirmed. What is not in doubt is the design position. Kanye West founded the label in 2013 pushing to be taken seriously as a designer with full control, and a plain white slab of foam that sold out on sight is one measure of how far that argument travelled.
Utility
Near white foam belongs to dry days. First recipe: cream or sand shorts with a plain white tee and bare feet, for heat, travel and poolside. Second recipe: grey sweatpants with a thick white ribbed sock and a grey hoodie, which is the version most people actually live in. Occasion: airports, home, short errands, hotel corridors, not monsoon streets and not wet tile, because moulded foam gets slippery. Fit runs large and wide, so sizing down one is the standard recommendation, especially for narrow feet. The Slide and the Foam Runner are the two shapes that carried this design language out of sneaker culture into general fashion, and Pure is the version that turned up most often on people who had never followed a drop in their life. Mass market imitation followed almost immediately and at every price point. All of that grew inside a partnership adidas terminated on 25 October 2022 after Kanye West's antisemitic public remarks, which the company stated were unacceptable, hateful and dangerous and violated company values. Yeezy now operates independently through its own site, and adidas era slides circulate as remaining stock rather than as current product.
Construction
Injection moulded one piece construction, the same process the label used on the Foam Runner, means the footbed, body and strap band are a single object rather than an upper joined to a sole. Nothing is stitched or glued, so nothing can come apart with wear. Pure is coloured through the material rather than surface printed, which matters on a near white shoe because scuffs read as texture instead of exposing a different layer. The band holds by tension rather than by any adjustment, so sizing is the whole fit question. Expect a firm platform that softens over time and a generous width. No logo appears anywhere, consistent with the anti branding position across the line.
