Released on 4 July 2023 and part of the ZG23 line. This release has a synthetic upper in Cloud White/Collegiate Navy/Solar Gold. ZG23 is adidas golf's lightweight end, a shoe built for players who want to feel the ground rather than stand on a platform, which is a very different brief to a traditional golf shoe. White with Collegiate Navy is the most conservative colourway the model offers and the one that reads correctly on a course, where clubhouse convention still matters. adidas has been building event-specific footwear since Adi Dassler was making shoes in Herzogenaurach by watching athletes instead of guessing, and golf is one of the last categories where that discipline is visible in every part of the shoe.
On course, wear it with technical golf socks and lace snugly through the midfoot, since a light shoe relies on lockdown rather than mass for stability. Two ways to wear it. First, the intended one: navy tailored shorts or golf trousers with a white or pale polo, where the shoe closes the palette exactly. Second, off course: cream chinos with a navy knit, which is a clean summer outfit the low profile suits. Clean grass and mud the same day, keep the sole traction clear, and let the shoes dry naturally between rounds. Rotate pairs in wet seasons so the upper never goes out damp.
Golf is a category adidas approaches as an engineering problem rather than a cultural one, in the same spirit as the adizero racing line with its carbon rod midsoles and Boost, the thermoplastic polyurethane developed with BASF and launched in 2013. A lightweight golf build with a low-profile sole and a traction system designed for rotational stability through the swing rather than straight-line grip. The upper uses synthetic and mesh panels for weight saving, with the Three Stripes providing structure across the midfoot in the reinforcing role they have played on adidas uppers since the mark was adopted. White uppers on golf shoes take grass stain and mud, which are the two hardest things to remove, so clean them the same day rather than letting them dry in. Use a damp cloth and mild soap, brush the sole clean of turf and grit, and air dry away from heat, never on a radiator.
