adidas built the Chinese Track Top for one market and accidentally built it for all of them. The 3.1 came out of the Shanghai design studio as part of the New Chinese Style capsule, drawing on Tang era garment codes, mandarin collars and traditional closures, then dropped in Greater China in December 2025 and reached Europe and the United States through 2026, selling out on arrival each time. Dark Grey is the version that made the whole idea portable. Where the brighter colorways announce themselves, this one keeps a charcoal base with a faint blue undertone, so the frog fasteners and stand collar read as tailoring instead of theme dressing. It is the colorway people buy when they intend to wear the jacket every week, not photograph it once.
Dark Grey is the easy one to build around. Fastened to the collar over a black turtleneck with charcoal trousers and black leather sneakers, it passes at dinner without looking like sportswear. Left open over a white tee, raw denim and Gazelles, it turns into a weekend jacket that still gets asked about. On fit, this is Asia sizing and cut generously on purpose, so stay true to size for the drape the designers intended and only move up one if you are between sizes or plan to layer a hoodie under it. The spacer knit holds creases, so hang the jacket rather than folding it, wash cold, skip the dryer, and the elastane keeps its snap for years. Longevity here is about storage, not stitching.
Dark Grey is the CTT colorway that crossed the most borders. It rode the xinzhongshi wave in China, where young buyers wear heritage detailing as normal clothing, then picked up global speed when Manchester United players turned up to a match in a custom grey CTT in May 2026 and put the jacket in front of an audience that had never heard of pankou. Chinese screen stars including Ouyang Nana, Ma Sichun and Wu Xuanyi have been spotted in the line. Novelship has flagged this exact colorway as a best seller in outerwear, and resale on global marketplaces has run near 400 US dollars against a 120 dollar retail.
Premium spacer fabric does the structural work here, a knit with air between two faces that gives the shoulders and collar their shape without any interlining weight. The blend is 92 percent polyester and 8 percent elastane, so the jacket springs back instead of bagging out at the elbows. The front is closed by pankou frog fasteners, knotted fabric buttons borrowed from traditional Chinese dress, with a working zip hidden underneath for the mornings you have no patience. A mandarin collar stands upright at the neck. The 3-Stripes run the sleeve. Sizing is Asia scale and gender neutral, listed from XXS up through 4XL, cut loose through the body and chest.
