Designed by Peter Moore and part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a ripstop upper in Black/Sky J Light Olive/Bright Mandarin/Sail/Noise Aqua. The Element line is Jordan Brand taking its most sacred silhouette outside. The Air Jordan 1 High is Peter Moore's shape, the shoe whose initial fifty thousand pairs sold out and which went on to pass a hundred and fifty million dollars in sales, and the Element treatment rebuilds it in weatherproof materials so it can be worn where a leather 1 would be ruined. Black Olive is the right colourway for that argument: dark, utilitarian, closer to outdoor equipment than to a basketball court. It keeps the 1's proportions and its Wings era attitude while quietly admitting that most people now wear these on wet streets rather than hardwood.
This is the Jordan you buy to actually use. Recipe one: black technical trousers with an elastic hem, an olive shell jacket, a black beanie, full utility with the shoe as the base. Recipe two: dark straight denim, a chunky olive knit, a waxed jacket, which keeps it civilian while retaining the weather cover. Genuinely good for monsoon, winter travel and long walking days. Size true and lace fully to seal the collar, because an unlaced high tops lets water in over the tongue regardless of the membrane. Taking the Air Jordan 1 into technical outerwear territory only works because the shape is so fixed in the culture that you can change everything else. The Element builds typically run a fuller, more sealed upper than a standard 1, so expect a slightly warmer, more enclosed fit. Care is different too: do not treat a membrane shoe with heavy waxes or oils, because they clog breathability. Wipe clean with a damp cloth, dry away from direct heat, and let the membrane do its job rather than adding waterproofing it does not need.
