Designed by Peter Moore and released on 20 January 2022 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a leather upper in Wolf Grey/Photon Dust/White/Black. Jordan Brand went to golf the same way it went to American football with the Michigan Wolverines in 2016 and to association football with Paris Saint-Germain in 2018: by taking a shape people already trust and adapting it to a different surface. The Air Jordan 1 Low Golf is that logic applied to the founding silhouette, the shoe Peter Moore drew with Bruce Kilgore for a rookie Nike signed in October 1984. Wolf Grey is the correct colour for it, quiet enough to pass any clubhouse dress code and neutral enough to keep the 1's outline as the recognisable thing. The reference does the work, not the palette.
Two ways to wear it. On the course, pair it with grey or navy technical trousers and a plain polo, keeping the fit sharp so the sneaker reference is intentional rather than sloppy. Off the course, wolf grey works with almost anything: washed black denim, a white tee, and a navy overshirt. Do not use a golf outsole as an everyday street sole, because turf traction wears down quickly on concrete and cannot be replaced. Clean grass and soil out of the outsole after every round, dry them at room temperature away from heat, and keep the leather conditioned so grey does not go chalky.
Golf is where the Jordan silhouette stops being streetwear and becomes a status signal in a completely different room. The line's cultural weight was built elsewhere, through Nike's Spike Lee advertising with Lee directing and playing Mars Blackmon, and through 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Ice Cube and Jay-Z referencing Jordan and his sneakers on record. Carrying that history onto a fairway is the joke and the appeal at once. Jordan Brand generated about 5.1 billion dollars for Nike in 2022, and category expansion like this is a large part of how a basketball division reaches that number without diluting the shape it is famous for.
This is the 1 Low pattern with a golf make underneath: the same panelled leather upper and stitched Swoosh, adapted to a course specific outsole built for grip on turf rather than a flat court sole. That single change alters everything about how it wears, because the traction that keeps you stable through a swing is not the traction that suits a pavement. Air cushioning entered the line from the Air Jordan II, so there is no unit here, and the feel remains firm and low. Wolf Grey shows grass stains and damp more readily than a dark upper, so a protector spray before the first round is a sensible investment.
