Culture Note™

Designed by Peter Moore and released on 17 August 2020 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has the Black/Black/Black colourway. Triple Black is the Air Jordan 1 with the argument removed. The shoe was designed by Peter Moore with Bruce Kilgore, released to the public on 1 April 1985, and built its early reputation on colour: red, black and white functioning as brand colours in their own right, loud enough that Nike could build an entire campaign around a uniform rule and pay the fines rather than change the shoe. Strip all three back to one and the silhouette has to survive on geometry. On the Low cut it does, because the wing shaped eyestay and the long quarter panel still catch light at different angles. This is the version that goes anywhere without explaining itself, the blackout of a shoe that spent its youth being the opposite.
