Designed by Peter Moore and released on 1 October 2020 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has the White/Stadium Green/Lucky Green/Black colourway. Lucky Green on white is one of the cleanest two tone splits the low cut 1 has produced, and it works because the shoe's panelling is simple enough that a single strong accent colour organises the whole thing. Green has no place in this brand's own palette, which is Chicago red, black and white plus the number 23, so it always reads as a chosen colour rather than an inherited one. The shape is the same one Peter Moore drew with Bruce Kilgore: leather panels, a perforated toe box, a rubber cupsole and the Wings mark, now sitting at the heel because the low cut leaves no collar to carry it.
Green and white asks for a simple base. Mid wash straight leg jeans, a white tee and a grey overshirt keeps the shoe as the single colour statement. For a summer version, cream shorts and a white polo makes it read sharp rather than sporty. Do not repeat the green anywhere else in the fit unless it is a much darker shade, since two bright greens fight. Keep socks white and low. Care follows white leather rules: damp cloth after each wear, a soft brush at the perforations, mild soap for marks and a separate cloth for the green panels. Avoid raw denim in the rain, which transfers indigo straight onto white.
Colour on this shoe was originally a fight. The league's uniform policy of the era required at least 51 percent white and carried a 5,000 dollar per game fine, and Nike paid rather than change the design, then built the Banned campaign around it, which taught the sneaker market that transgression sells. Spike Lee's Mars Blackmon advertising kept the shoe in view and hip hop carried it, with 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Ice Cube and Jay-Z all putting Jordans in verse. A bright green low is that permission used casually. What was once a rule break is now just a seasonal option.
White leather forms the base, with green on the swoosh and overlays, which is the standard weighting for the low and the reason this colourway looks balanced rather than half painted. The low collar means no ankle support, so lateral hold comes entirely from the lacing, and the cupsole underneath is firm rather than cushioned, closer to a court shoe than to anything built for distance. White leather on a low is the most exposed surface in daily wear, since the shoe sits low enough to catch splash from pavements. Green dye is stable but bright, and the joint between white and green is where dirt collects first, so that seam is the part worth cleaning most often.
