Designed by Peter Moore and released on 20 October 2024 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a patent leather upper in Black/White/Metallic Gold/Metallic Silver. The Mid is the height nobody planned. The line began with a high top drawn by Peter Moore and a low that followed, and the middle collar emerged later as the version that behaves like a sneaker rather than a piece of equipment. This SE, in black and white with metallic silver, uses that flexibility for a dressier read. Metallic finishes carry an echo of the choice the line made on the Air Jordan 11, when patent leather brought a formal wear material onto a basketball court and permanently changed what a Jordan could be worn with. Silver on black does something similar at lower volume: it takes the everyday Mid and gives it a reason to leave the house after dark.
Recipe one: black tailored trousers with a black merino crew and a charcoal overcoat, letting the silver read as jewellery at ankle level. Recipe two: dark indigo jeans, a white oxford shirt worn open over a tee, and a black leather jacket, where the metallic panels stop the fit going flat. This is an evening and city shoe more than a gym or trail one, and the mid collar keeps it stable without restricting the ankle. Fit is generally true to size, with a half up for wide feet. Wipe metallic panels with a dry microfibre only, keep abrasive cleaners away from them entirely, and store out of heat and humidity, since midsole materials degrade with age regardless of use.
Jordan Brand has been a standalone division inside Nike since 1997, with its own athlete roster, apparel and collaborations, and by 2022 it was generating about 5.1 billion dollars. That scale is why special edition colourways like this exist at all: the line long ago stopped being one signature shoe and became a system of materials and finishes. The house marks carry it, the Jumpman silhouette that Peter Moore had Jordan recreate in Bulls gear, and the Wings logo from the earliest era. Black, white and silver is the version of that system built for people who want the reference without the volume of the founding red.
Black leather forms the base, white takes the midsole and panels, and the metallic silver sits as an accent finish that catches light where matte leather would absorb it. The panel layout is the familiar one, separate toe, eyestay, quarter and heel pieces stitched over one another so the blocking is built rather than printed. The mid collar is padded around the ankle and sits low enough to clear the ankle bone, which is why this height needs almost no breaking in compared with the high. A rubber outsole with the forefoot pivot circle finishes it. Metallic surfaces scuff more visibly than plain leather, so the accent panels are the ones to protect if you want the shoe to keep its intent.
