Culture Note™

Designed by Peter Moore and released on 7 August 2020 as part of the Air Jordan 1 line. This release has a suede upper in Neutral Grey/White/Metallic Silver. The Co.JP name points this pair at Japan, and neutral grey is the right colour for that address: restrained, hard to date, closer to a design object than a team shoe. Regional editions are an old habit in this line, and they work because the base is universal. The Air Jordan 1 exists because Nike was losing basketball to Converse and adidas in the early 1980s and chose to buy a young player's identity rather than an established superstar's, signing a Bulls rookie in 1984 with a royalty attached. The Retro High OG build keeps the 1985 proportions that Peter Moore drew with Bruce Kilgore, so nothing about the shape has been modernised.
