Released on 29 July 2025 and part of the Jordan Luka .77 line. This release has a textile upper in Aquatone/University Red/White/Blue Tint. Jordan Brand stopped being one man's shoe in 1997, when Nike turned the line into a standalone division with its own athlete roster, and the Luka signature series is what that division looks like today. Luka Doncic is a signature NBA athlete for the brand, and the .77 in the name carries the number he plays in. NY vs. NY aims the shoe at New York, the city whose park basketball has always judged guards faster and louder than any league does. The logic has not changed since 26 October 1984, when Nike signed a Chicago Bulls rookie to a six year deal worth about 2.5 million dollars with royalties attached: buy a player's identity, let the name do the work a logo used to do, and let the city argue about it afterwards.
Two ways to run it. On court: compression shorts, a mesh short over them, a fitted tee and a low crew sock so the collar sits exactly where it was engineered to sit. Break them in over one full session before you trust them in a real game, and lace through every eyelet, guards lose ankles to lazy lacing more often than to bad shoes. The through line back to Spike Lee directing Nike's earliest Air Jordan advertising, playing Mars Blackmon opposite Jordan on screen, is that the sneaker was always a character in somebody else's story. A New York themed guard shoe belongs in that lineage, because New York is where basketball and hip hop first taught each other how to dress.

Nike Air cushioning has run through the line since the second Air Jordan, and every court shoe under the Jumpman inherits the same brief: absorb the landing, return the step, survive a hard stop with your weight moving sideways. Later models built out the vocabulary with carbon fibre shank plates for torsional stiffness and Flyknit uppers from the thirtieth model onward, and the modern signature series is assembled from that toolkit rather than from retro leather. No stack height or plate spec is published for this pair, so trust what your foot tells you: a low, containing upper that wants to be laced through every eyelet, and an outsole cut to bite a clean hardwood floor.
