New Balance 9060 Magenta

Released on 20 April 2024 and part of New Balance's 9060 line. This release has a leather upper. Magenta is the loudest thing New Balance makes, and putting it on the 9060 is the point. This silhouette exists to push the brand's own archive out of shape, taking the flat, sober panels of the 99x running line and swelling them into curves, so a saturated pink violet finishes the argument the shape starts. For a company that spent a century being the least flashy name in athletic footwear, founded in 1906 to sell arch supports rather than style, a full magenta sneaker is close to a provocation. It only reads as confident rather than desperate because everything underneath it is so thoroughly unglamorous.
