New Balance 9060 Vintage Rose Sea Salt

Released on 15 May 2024 and part of New Balance's 9060 line. This release has a suede upper in Vintage Rose/Sea Salt/Silver Metallic. Vintage Rose Sea Salt is the 9060 pretending it has been in a wardrobe for twenty years. The 9060 itself is a modern invention that borrows the panel structure and midsole geometry of New Balance's 99x runners and inflates them into sculpture, so there is no actual archive shoe behind it. That makes the faded rose and off white palette a piece of fiction, and a good one. The brand's real archive is full of colours that aged rather than launched this way, and building the aged version deliberately is the sort of move a company can only make once its ordinariness has been converted into a design language.
