Designed by Benjamin Nethongkome and released on 15 November 2025 as part of the Ja 3 line. This release has a mesh upper in Celestial Gold/Light Wild Mango/Vapor Green/Slate. The Ja line is a modern signature basketball shoe, which at Nike means a product built around one player's game rather than around a category. That model of shoemaking started in 1984, when the company signed Michael Jordan and discovered that a signature line could become a business of its own, and it has run through LeBron James and Kevin Durant since. Daybreak names a colourway after the hour rather than a team, warm light against a dark ground, which is how contemporary signature basketball has drifted away from school and franchise palettes and toward moods. It is a performance shoe first, styled like something you would wear off the floor.
On court, wear it with performance socks that reach above the ankle and lace to the top eyelet, because containment in a modern basketball shoe depends on the lockdown you set rather than on the upper alone. Off court, the warm and dark palette works with black tapered joggers and a grey crew, or with olive cargos and a black tee if you want it to look intentional rather than functional. Reserve one pair for indoor courts if you play seriously, since concrete destroys basketball outsoles at several times the rate of a wooden floor. Sizing on Nike basketball tends true, with a snug midfoot by design.
Nike is the official on court uniform supplier to the NBA, WNBA and NBA G League from 2017, under a deal signed in June 2015 and extended by twelve years as announced in October 2024, so the league you watch is dressed by the same company that makes this shoe.
