Released on 28 September 2023 and part of Nike's Dunk SB line. This release has a suede upper in Deep Royal Blue/White/White. Born x Raised is a Los Angeles label whose identity is tied to specific streets rather than to a general idea of the city, and One Block At A Time is a phrase that only means anything if you take that literally. Nike SB gave it the Dunk Low, which is the right shoe for the job: the silhouette skateboarding claimed and made local everywhere it landed. Nike has form here, having spent decades learning that its cultural authority comes from communities rather than from campaigns, whether that was Steve Prefontaine standing for running as attitude in the early days or the skate line arriving late and having to earn its place. This pair belongs to the collaborator more than it belongs to Nike.
Utility
Collaboration Dunks look best when the clothes stay quiet.
