Released on 24 December 2025 and part of Nike's Vomero Premium line. This release has a mesh upper in Black/Metallic Dark Grey-Dark Smoke Grey-Anthracite. The Vomero sits at the plush end of Nike running, the daily trainer built for people who log unglamorous miles rather than chase times, and that lineage runs straight back to Bill Bowerman pouring rubber into a waffle iron in Oregon because he thought runners deserved better underfoot than the market gave them. Premium is the version that stops pretending it is only for running. Wrapped in black and finished with the Realtree camouflage pattern, it borrows the language of hunting and field wear rather than the track, which is exactly why it works off the road. A running shape in woodland camo reads as outdoors gear that happens to be comfortable, and that is the space Nike has always been happiest colonising: performance engineering wearing everyday clothes.
Black plus woodland camo wants earthy neighbours, not bright ones. First recipe: olive or brown cargo trousers, a heavy black hoodie and a shell jacket, letting the Realtree print be the only pattern in the fit. Second: straight indigo denim with a cream waffle knit and a chore coat, so the camo reads as texture instead of theme. Avoid mixing it with another print, because two camouflages fight. Occasion wise this is a travel and long day shoe: airports, weekend errands, anywhere you will be standing more than sitting. Size true and lace it properly, since a soft, tall midsole needs the upper doing the holding. Brush the print dry rather than soaking it, and keep the midsole clean with a damp cloth.
Nike's cultural entry came through running before it came through anything else. Steve Prefontaine, coached by Bowerman at Oregon, was the brand's first track endorser and made running look like an attitude rather than a sport, and he still stands in bronze at the Beaverton headquarters. That inheritance is why a cushioned trainer carries weight it has not earned on any runway. The camouflage angle plugs into a different current, the one where technical outdoor kit became city dress and function became the styling argument. Nike has been fluent in that conversion since Air Max models left the gym and became staples of mainstream American youth dress, then came back around through athleisure. This is the outdoor version of the same trick.
This is a layered running upper, which means panels rather than a single piece: overlays holding the midfoot, a breathable base beneath them, and the Realtree camouflage printed across the black so the pattern reads at distance and dissolves up close. Nike built its reputation on making the cushioning itself part of the design, from the pressurised Air unit made visible on the 1987 Air Max onward, and a max cushion trainer like this is the descendant of that thinking: a tall, soft platform you notice with the first step. Black is forgiving on a chunky sole, hiding scuffs on the toe bumper and the midsole sidewall where a lifestyle runner takes its knocks. Expect it to feel broken in almost immediately.
